Corey Matheson
Corey Matheson is a Canadiana/Americana and roots rock musician based in Truro, Nova Scotia. Known as a prolific storyteller, his music often explores his coming-of-age in Nova Scotia and his early years in the Toronto music scene.
Musical Career & Projects
Matheson has been active in the Canadian alternative and roots music scenes since high school in the early 1990s:
Northumberland: His current band, formed in 2021 with longtime friends. The group released a self-titled album in 2023.
Gus Corey: Matheson released a solo record under this moniker in 2020.
Driveway: An alternative country band he joined after moving to Toronto in 2001. Driveway released two highly acclaimed albums. They toured across Canada numerous times opening for the likes of Barney Bentall, The Northern Pikes, 54-40 and others.
Haggis: An alternative rock band he co-founded in high school during the early 1990s, which released the album Last Drag in 1996. Haggis was part of the 90s Alternative Halifax scene.
Recent Work (2025–2026)
In 2025, Matheson released several singles, including "Crazy In Love," "Snake Oil Man," and "Oh Canada 2.0". His latest album, "Rid the Darkness," was released in late 2025, featuring tracks like "Amsterdam" and "20 Years".
